A peel is often classified as light, medium, or deep. It refers to how deep the peel penetrates in the layers of skin. This procedure uses a chemical solution (usually alpha-hydroxy acids at different concentrations or enzymes) that are applied to the skin and will cause exfoliation. Every type of peeling is different, has a different downtime and is suited for a different type of skin concern.
It gets rid of the superficial dead skin cells to help accelerate the production of new cells. The peeling achieves the uniformity of the patient's skin. It has several benefits, among which is the reduction of acne scars and lesions created during infection, renewal of the layers of the skin, improving its appearance and texture. This procedure is ideal for visually reducing the size of pores, which appear less open. In addition, it helps reduce skin spots caused by age and sun, and is capable of reducing wrinkles and expression lines.
